Robbie Williams leaves Julia Roberts speechless with his confession about “taking a prostitute shopping” – and reveals he postponed his album release out of fear of Taylor Swift

Robbie Williams left Julia Roberts utterly stunned when he confessed he once took inspiration from her iconic role in Pretty Woman — by actually taking a prostitute shopping.

Appearing on The Graham Norton Show alongside Colin Farrell, Benedict Cumberbatch and Gloria Estefan, the 51-year-old singer recalled watching Pretty Woman six times in a row. “Julia Roberts. Oh my god, I can’t. I watched Pretty Woman six times in a row,” he said, before dropping the bombshell: “At the end of it, I said to myself, one day I will take a prostitute shopping. And I did. I did. So thank you.”

The confession left Julia speechless, as host Graham Norton tried to keep things light with a laugh: “That’s a lovely story, Robbie. That’s really lovely.”

Julia, who was 22 when she played sex worker Vivian Ward opposite Richard Gere in the 1990 romantic classic, could only smile in disbelief as the crowd roared with laughter.

But that wasn’t the only jaw-dropping revelation of the night. Robbie also admitted he recently scrapped his new album release after discovering he’d be competing directly with Taylor Swift.

Speaking at a comeback gig at London’s Dingwalls, the Angels hitmaker told fans: “We’re all pretending it’s not about Taylor Swift, but it f***ing is. You can’t compete with that one, that’s the truth.”

Robbie, who currently shares the record for 15 UK No.1 albums with The Beatles, explained his ultimate goal was to beat that record — but Taylor’s timing threw him off. “I want 16 No.1 albums, and then Taylor decided to put her album out the week before me, so I just went, ‘for f***’s sake,’” he joked.

Taylor’s latest release, The Life Of A Showgirl, has already shattered Adele’s streaming record, selling 3.5 million copies in its first week — proving why even Robbie Williams thinks twice before going head-to-head with her.
