“Please, my daughter — come see me before I d.i.e”: Thomas Markle Begs Meghan From His Hospital Bed After Life-Saving Leg Amputation — and says the Duchess Has NOT called him following the ‘life-or-death’ surgery

Thomas Markle has issued a devastating plea from his hospital bed in the Philippines, begging his estranged daughter Meghan Markle to see him “one more time before I die” after undergoing an emergency leg amputation.

The 81-year-old former lighting director, who suffered a catastrophic blood clot that cut off circulation to his lower leg, said he “doesn’t want to die estranged” from Meghan and still dreams of meeting Prince Harry and his grandchildren Archie and Lilibet “before it’s too late.”

Doctors who carried out the three-hour surgery said the situation was “life or death”. One surgeon explained that they “had to remove the foot” because a massive clot in his thigh had blocked blood flow, adding that an infection reaching his heart “would most likely have been fatal.”

Despite widespread reports that Meghan had “reached out” to him after news of his operation, Mr Markle said he has received no such message. He insisted he never changed his phone number “so she could always get in touch,” but confirmed that no calls or messages had arrived. Hospital staff, contacted with his permission, also said they had received no communication from Meghan or her representatives.

A spokesman for the Sussexes later said Meghan had sent an email on Friday, but it was reportedly sent to an address Mr Markle hasn’t used for at least five years — and relatives say he doesn’t use email at all.

Mr Markle remains in intensive care but is expected to be moved to a regular ward soon. Posting for a picture from his bed, he said he wanted “to thank the well-wishers from around the world, especially those from Britain,” adding that he was “very grateful.”

The estrangement between father and daughter dates back to 2018, when Mr Markle posed for staged paparazzi photos before her royal wedding — a mistake he later described as an attempt to “improve” his image. Heart attacks prevented him from walking her down the aisle, and he has not seen her since. He has also never met Harry or his grandchildren.

Speaking from the hospital, Mr Markle admitted he was struggling emotionally following the amputation. He said he had begun experiencing “phantom limb” sensations and confessed: “I don’t know if I will be able to cope with this… I’ve always been a very independent man.”

He added: “I’m grateful to be alive — but living without a leg is a tough prospect.”

His son Thomas Jr confirmed the severity of the situation, revealing that his father’s foot had turned “blue-black” and doubled in size before doctors discovered the 14-inch clot. Surgeons warned that without emergency amputation, infection could have spread and proved fatal.

Despite the ordeal, Mr Markle showed flashes of dark humour. Looking at his bandaged leg for the first time, he joked: “I wanted to lose weight but this wasn’t the way I imagined it. I guess my tap-dancing days are over.” Later he laughed: “If anyone wanted to do anything to me, I don’t have a leg to stand on.”

Staff at the Cebu hospital have been treating him as a VIP patient, with security posted outside his room to keep paparazzi away. A small Christmas wreath hangs on the door — a stark contrast to the glittering world of Montecito, where Meghan and Harry live in their £14 million mansion.

Despite everything, Mr Markle said his message remains simple: “I don’t want to die estranged from Meghan. I want to meet my grandkids. I’ve never stopped loving her.”
