Peter Andre has opened up about a deeply personal health struggle that continues to shape his daily life — and it’s far more serious than fans might expect from the ever-youthful performer.
At 53, the Mysterious Girl star still looks in peak physical condition. But behind that image, he admits there are things he physically cannot bring himself to do — including undergoing cosmetic procedures or even taking basic medication.

The root of it all traces back to a diagnosis he received years ago: a panic disorder that developed after he battled anxiety and repeated panic attacks. While he has learned to manage parts of it, the condition has left him with a lasting and very real fear — putting anything into his body.
Peter explained that the fear isn’t just psychological — it affects his everyday choices in ways many would find hard to imagine. He said he has a fear of taking medicine or putting something into his body that he cannot remove. That includes injections, meaning he hasn’t had Botox in years, cannot have flu jabs, and refuses to ever consider fillers.
Even something as simple as treating a headache has become a challenge. He admitted that he hasn’t taken paracetamol in three years because of this overwhelming fear.
The situation is made even more complex by the fact that his wife, Emily MacDonagh, is a qualified doctor. According to Peter, she believes the solution lies in exposure therapy — gradually facing the fear rather than avoiding it.

He shared that it’s difficult, especially with his wife’s medical background, as she thinks he simply needs to confront it and move forward.
The couple share three children together — Millie, Theo, and baby Belle — while Peter is also father to Junior and Princess from his previous relationship with Katie Price.
But health concerns haven’t just affected Peter. Emily herself recently revealed she had been diagnosed with shingles — a painful condition caused by the same virus as chickenpox, typically associated with older adults.
Peter praised his wife for speaking out, saying he was surprised by the diagnosis but admired how calmly she handled it despite the pain. He noted that she wanted to help others understand the condition from a medical perspective and that she now seems to be recovering well.
Emily also addressed her followers directly, explaining that while shingles is more common in older people, it can occur at any age — which is why awareness is so important.
