Award-winning music producer Catherine Marks has opened up about her secret battle with cancer, sharing a heartfelt health update after years of silent suffering.
Known for her work with artists like The Killers, Alanis Morissette, and Boygenius, Catherine revealed on Instagram that she was recently diagnosed with early-stage cancer and has undergone a full abdominal hysterectomy.

The 43-year-old producer, originally from Australia and now living in the UK, described her journey as one filled with pain, confusion, and perseverance. For over 18 months, she endured what doctors initially believed was a herniated disc and age-related discomfort. But she trusted her instincts and pushed for answers.
“Since late 2022, I’d been living with persistent, often debilitating pain. It was first dismissed as ‘just age’, but I knew something wasn’t right,” she wrote. It wasn’t until a scan revealed a fibroid the size of her uterus that things began to change.

From that point, her life became a whirlwind of surgeries, blood loss, and sheer determination to keep working despite it all. In December 2024, she was finally diagnosed with early-stage cancer.
Reflecting on her experience, Catherine said: “This journey has taught me something vital: trust your instincts. As women, we often downplay our pain or dismiss our needs. But listening to your body can be life-saving.”

While the physical toll was immense, she also acknowledged the emotional impact: “There has been space in this healing to reflect; on the toll it’s taken, and the quiet grief of what might have been… Life had other plans. But no regrets.”
She ended her post with a message of hope: “Now, I’m taking time to heal, rebuild, and return with clarity and strength. What comes next feels precious.”
The music world quickly rallied behind her. Radio presenter Clara Amfo commented: “Salute for trusting yourself above everything,” while singer Nadine Coyle wrote: “Sending so much love to you!”
