Miriam Margolyes left This Morning viewers divided after a chaotic appearance filled with raw onions, toilet humour and shocking celebrity tales.
The 84-year-old actress joined Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley on Thursday’s show to promote her new book and tour, but the chat quickly spiralled into what some called “vile” behaviour.

Viewers were stunned when Miriam tucked into a raw onion live on air while reminiscing about her recent trips to Edinburgh and Blackpool. She then casually revealed, “I did a poo test this morning,” insisting to viewers that “everyone must do one because it can save your life,” before admitting she had popped her sample into a “perfume bag to soften the blow.”
The actress went on to share more eyebrow-raising confessions, including the moment Arnold Schwarzenegger “farted in her face” during the filming of End of Days. “It was vile!” she raged. “If you’ve got to go, you’ve got to go, but don’t aim it at someone.” She even joked about quietly passing wind at Buckingham Palace and recalled a near-miss when she almost toppled the late Queen during a handshake.

As if that wasn’t enough, Miriam told Cat and Ben that her lodgers help her get in and out of her bra each day, while cheekily admitting she had wanted a “ruder title” for her book.
Social media quickly lit up with complaints. One viewer fumed: “I can’t stand this woman. She’s just vile.” Another snapped: “Stop chomping on that onion with your mouth open, you ill-mannered old bat.” A third added: “I didn’t turn on the TV to hear Miriam talking with her mouth full about poo tests.”
But not everyone was appalled. Loyal fans jumped to her defence, praising her unfiltered style. “Miriam Margolyes is so funny, love seeing her on,” one gushed, while another wrote: “She’s brilliant – so far from the fake perfection of others.”
