Coleen Nolan halted a live broadcast of Loose Women to deliver a surprise piece of “breaking news” about her co-star Dame Kelly Holmes, leaving the panel and studio audience stunned.
The unexpected moment occurred during Thursday’s episode (May 8), when Coleen, joined by Kelly, Nadia Sawalha and Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver, suddenly paused the conversation to share a big reveal.
Without Kelly knowing, she had just been voted one of the most empowering women of the last 25 years – placing alongside icons like Michelle Obama and Tina Turner.
Looking shocked, Kelly asked: “What is this?” Coleen, beaming, replied: “You’ve been named as one of the most empowering women in the last 25 years!” The studio erupted in applause.
Still in disbelief, Kelly responded: “That’s amazing… how did I not know this?” Coleen went on to explain that the list was voted on by thousands, with Michelle Obama topping the ranking and Kelly proudly securing the fifth spot.
Adding to the surprise, fellow Loose Women panelist Katie Piper also featured on the prestigious list.
The episode continued with emotional moments, including a performance by Britain’s Got Talent winner Sydnie Christmas, who sang “We’ll Meet Again” and spoke of her admiration for young contestant Olly Pearson. “He plays like his life depends on it,” she said, prompting Coleen to agree: “He just breaks my heart.”
