After years of speculation, David Beckham is finally set to receive a knighthood in the King’s Birthday Honours list — and with that, wife Victoria will officially become Lady Beckham. But the honour comes against a backdrop of lingering family tensions and past controversy.

The football legend, 49, has been overlooked for the prestigious title for years, sparking frustration behind the scenes. In leaked emails, David was reportedly furious about the delays, branding the honours system a “fing joke” and the committee “a bunch of cs”. Though his team later dismissed the messages as “taken out of context” and “manipulated,” the sentiment shocked many at the time.
A friend later explained, “He does feel that he has given so much to his country. While he was frustrated in those emails, he was over it the moment he sent them. Getting the knighthood is not what his work is about.”

Now, with the honour finally on its way, Victoria Beckham is set to receive the courtesy title of Lady — a fitting recognition alongside her husband’s new title of “Sir David”.
Yet all is not well within the Beckham clan. Reports of a rift between David and Victoria and their eldest son Brooklyn — and daughter-in-law Nicola Peltz — continue to simmer. A source close to the family revealed: “There are no signs of reconciliation, sadly. There is still a lot of hurt to process.”
Nicola’s camp has previously accused the Beckhams of “emotional abuse and toxic behaviour,” a claim close friends of the couple slammed as “patently untrue and ludicrous.” That allegation, sources say, was “the nail in the coffin” of any repair to the strained relationship.
As the Beckhams prepare to receive one of the highest honours in the country, it remains to be seen whether the family can reunite — or whether the wounds run too deep.
