Anne-Marie has opened up for the first time about her hidden struggle with postnatal depression and anxiety following the birth of her second child. In a heartfelt Instagram post, the 34-year-old singer shared how the past two years — marked by pregnancy, breastfeeding and emotional exhaustion — have taken a toll on her mental health.

She and her rapper husband, Slowthai, welcomed their second child, a baby boy, in May, joining their daughter Seven, now 18 months old. Reflecting on her emotional journey, Anne-Marie admitted, “My head has been all over the place. I’ve been pregnant and breastfeeding for over two years. My hormones are mental and I’ve only just started feeling okay.”

Despite the inner chaos, she credits her family and therapy for helping her pull through. “I battled with postnatal depression and anxiety, and therapy — yet again — and the people around me pulled me through it.”
She also revealed the challenges of adapting to the strict routines of motherhood, admitting, “For someone who doesn’t like routines, I’ve had to become the person who lives in one — with naps, feeding and meal times.”

Now feeling more herself, Anne-Marie excitedly declared, “I’m back. I’m strong. My blond hair is back. My body is kinda back… I just have to stop eating chocolate and saying, ‘the baby wants it.’”
The singer even teased a return to music, saying, “My mind is finally seeing clear again. I have two beautiful babies. Now it’s time to tour again — okay, maybe not yet, but soon.”

Fans and celebrity friends including Jessie J, Paloma Faith, and Fearne Cotton flooded her comment section with support. Jessie called her a “Superwoman,” while Paloma said she could “totally relate.”
Anne-Marie and Slowthai secretly tied the knot in 2022. The couple announced their second pregnancy just days after their daughter Seven’s first birthday. Her daughter’s unique name holds personal meaning — seven is Anne-Marie’s lucky number, and she even has “0707” tattooed on her body as a symbol of her angel numbers.
Kate Lawler added a touching message in the comments: “Your honesty will help so many. Well done on getting through the toughest times.”
