Kate Garraway has revealed she would have no objections if her daughter Darcey decided to take part in Love Island — and even joked that she would be keen to enter the famous villa herself.
The Good Morning Britain presenter, 59, opened up about the hit ITV dating show during a recent interview, admitting that while she supports the idea of her daughter taking part, Darcey has no interest in signing up.
Speaking candidly, Kate said: “I’d love to do Love Island but I’m not really bikini ready.”
She then added: “I would let Darcey do Love Island, absolutely, but she says she would never do it!”

Darcey, 20, is currently studying at university. Kate shares her daughter and son William, 16, with her late husband Derek Draper, who died in January 2024 after suffering complications linked to Long Covid.
The presenter also reflected on her recent appearance on Celebrity Traitors, revealing that one particularly awkward moment involved her daughter’s reaction to the show.
Recalling a tense roundtable discussion featuring fellow contestant Nico, Kate joked: “My daughter had just started uni and the very first roundtable with me and Nico.”
She continued: “One of those people in that stand off was the person that gave birth to her and the other was universally the most popular cast member.”
According to Kate, Darcey was less than impressed by the situation and quickly found herself dealing with reactions from fellow students.
“She was like ‘Oh my god mum what have you done to me, all my friends are saying if Nico goes, I’m going to kill your mum!’” she recalled.
Away from television, Kate has recently been linked to broadcaster and economist Liam Halligan after the pair were first spotted together earlier this year. However, she remained cautious when discussing the reports.
“Everyone is being so sweet about it,” she said when asked about the speculation surrounding her personal life.
The presenter has previously spoken about the emotional challenge of taking Darcey to university without Derek by her side.

Reflecting on the milestone, Kate admitted it was difficult watching other families arrive together while feeling the absence of her husband, who had supported their children through years of health struggles and family challenges.
Speaking about the experience, she said: “I felt very emotional. I didn’t want her to feel it, but I think we both felt that dad wasn’t there.”
She explained that seeing parents helping their children settle into university highlighted what the family had lost.
“We’re just struggling with the cases and everything and also thinking he would be so proud,” Kate said.
The television star also revealed that the hardest moment came after saying goodbye to Darcey and beginning the journey home alone.
“Actually leaving her she was fine. I did have a really good weep because I thought the two of us, Derek and I, should be going now to have a bite to eat and to drive home both emotional but also having a little pat on the back thinking ‘OK, we got her there, we got her through’.”
She added: “And instead I just felt sort of cross that he wasn’t there.”
