Jessie J has clarified that her recent Instagram post stating her cancer was “all gone” was actually a positive affirmation — not a medical confirmation. The singer, 37, who is recovering from surgery following an early breast cancer diagnosis, said many misunderstood her post which included a “fingers crossed” emoji.

In a follow-up message, she explained, “I posted a list of pros and cons from my surgery recovery. The first ‘pro’ said ‘the cancer has all gone’ — but that was wishful thinking, not a medical fact.” Jessie revealed she’s still waiting for the official test results and that her message was intended to be hopeful, not misleading.

She admitted the confusion was partly her fault for not being clearer: “I thought the emoji would make it obvious, but it didn’t.” Surgery took place just six nights ago, and though she’s now home with her son Sky and partner Chanan Colman, Jessie admitted that the “fear of not knowing” still lingers heavily.

In a candid list of “pros and cons”, Jessie praised the support she’s received — from her mum moving in, to Chanan’s care and even finding joy in Love Island marathons. But she also opened up about the emotional and physical toll: not being able to pick up her son, struggling with sleep, post-op pain, and even joking about constipation from medication.

Jessie ended her update with a hopeful note: “I pray that my affirmation becomes real very soon. But unfortunately, the journey with cancer is rarely that simple.”
