Jessie J Breaks Down in Tears on ‘Hardest Day Yet’ Amid Cancer Battle: “Work. Toddler. Cancer. Life. It’s Drained Me”

Jessie J has opened up about experiencing her most difficult day so far as she continues her battle with breast cancer, describing how she was overwhelmed by panic attacks and deep sadness.

The 37-year-old singer, who recently revealed her diagnosis in a heartfelt Instagram video, shared an emotional health update, saying she was “drowning in negativity” and struggling to keep it together.

She confessed in a candid post: “Honestly, I had my worst day so far yesterday. The busiest three months of my life—work, a toddler, cancer, life—have drained my mind. Panic attacks. Tears. Big fears. Overwhelm.”

But in a surprising twist of humour and honesty, Jessie said one unexpected thing helped shift her mood: eating corn on the cob. “Turns out it’s extremely hard to panic or cry while eating one. Highly recommend,” she joked.

Despite the difficult moments, Jessie emphasized the importance of allowing emotions to surface. “It’s key to acknowledge fear, anger, sadness, panic, and overwhelm. Holding it in won’t make it go away.”

She admitted that while 90% of the time she feels strong and tries to carry on with humour, she won’t ignore the 10% that feels fear and sadness.

The singer shares a two-year-old son, Sky, with her partner, basketball player Chanan Colman. Balancing motherhood, a career, and treatment hasn’t been easy. Jessie also revealed she had undergone five breast biopsies just hours before performing recently.

Reflecting on her diagnosis, which came before the release of her empowering track “No Secrets,” she said, “Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding onto the word ‘early’.”

Jessie will undergo surgery after her performance at Wembley’s Summertime Ball on June 15. Ever the open book, she explained that sharing her journey helps her feel supported—and maybe helps others too.

Ending on a cheeky note, she joked that her upcoming surgery might lead to a “boob job” and teased, “Is it too soon to release a remix called ‘Living My Breast Life’?”
