Long-running ITV breakfast show Good Morning Britain is reportedly facing a major transformation — and the news has left staff feeling anxious and uncertain.
According to new reports, ITV is planning a complete revamp of the show, which has aired since 2014 and helped launch the modern-day careers of figures like Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan. The changes are said to include a new studio, a sharper, more hard-hitting news aesthetic, and possibly merging roles across ITV’s wider news operation.

The goal? To compete directly with BBC Breakfast, which consistently outperforms GMB in ratings, drawing over one million daily viewers compared to GMB’s 700,000.
But the move has sparked behind-the-scenes fear at ITV’s London Television Centre. A source told The Daily Mail: “Any talk of major change starts panic — lots of the staff were immediately worried about the security of their jobs.”
This internal unrest comes months after Andrew Dagnell, former boss of ITV News, took on the role of Director of News and Current Affairs. His arrival has prompted discussions about streamlining teams and aligning ITV’s news output across the day.

“There could be a new set and feel… But people are likely to lose their jobs,” a source added. “There is a lot of upset, anger, and in some cases, mutiny.”
Good Morning Britain has long been one of ITV’s flagship morning shows. Piers Morgan was one of the biggest stars to emerge from the programme, though he dramatically quit live on air in 2021 following backlash over his comments about Meghan Markle.
With the threat of job cuts and creative overhauls looming, staff now face a period of uncertainty — and the future of the show hangs in the balance.
