ITV Fans in Tears as Lorraine Kelly Takes Indefinite Break from Morning Show: ‘She’s been through a lot’

Lorraine Kelly is reportedly taking an extended break from her ITV breakfast show as she continues to recover from recent preventative surgery. The 65-year-old presenter, who recently underwent a keyhole operation to remove her ovaries and fallopian tubes, is now stepping back to focus on her health.

Earlier this month, Lorraine revealed she had been feeling unwell for some time and, following scans and tests, doctors advised the procedure as a precaution. “I had some scans and tests and I have to have my ovaries and tubes taken out,” she explained.

Christine Lampard stepped in to host Thursday’s (May 8) episode of Lorraine, during which she interviewed Naga Munchetty. But fans were quick to notice Lorraine’s absence — and now it seems she won’t be returning anytime soon.

According to The Sun, Lorraine will also miss this year’s prestigious BAFTA TV Awards on May 11. Last year, she was honoured with the BAFTA Special Award, but this time she’ll be staying home to continue resting.

“Lorraine is worlds away from where she was this time last year,” a source said. “She’s been through a lot with her recent health scare and is quite rightly taking some time out to properly recover.”

The insider added that the ITV team already misses her presence, and while Lorraine is keen to return, there’s currently no confirmed comeback date. “It’s too early to say,” they added.

Earlier this week, Lorraine shared a post from home, thanking staff at Heatherwood Hospital for their care. “Back home now and following doctor’s orders to rest up,” she wrote, alongside a smiling photo with the hospital team.

Despite the health setback, Lorraine’s gratitude and positivity remain unwavering — and fans are wishing her a smooth, full recovery.
