Inside Kelvin Fletcher’s marriage to Liz Marsland – split; shock ‘jealousy’; ‘testing time’

Kelvin Fletcher may now appear happily settled with his wife Liz Marsland and their four children, but their marriage hasn’t been without its rocky chapters.

The couple, who currently star in their own reality series Fletchers’ Family Farm, first crossed paths as kids when they were just eight years old. They officially began dating in 2009 and tied the knot in a lavish 2016 ceremony at London’s One Mayfair. Reflecting on that moment, Kelvin told HELLO! Magazine: “I knew I wanted to marry Liz the day I met her. Deep down I knew she was the one.”

Their family has since grown to include daughter Marnie, son Milo, and twin boys Maximus and Mateusz. Yet behind the smiles, the pair have weathered challenges that once even tore them apart.

Back in 2010, Liz ended the relationship, reportedly due to her struggles with jealousy. A source claimed at the time: “Liz has always been jealous of the attention Kelvin receives. He’s constantly stopped by girls wanting his autograph, and while Kelvin assured her nothing happened, over the years it wore her down.”

Kelvin himself admitted that Liz found it difficult watching him in romantic storylines during his Emmerdale years. “I do ring her up and say, ‘I’m kissing so-and-so today’ and make a joke about it. That’s how we deal with it. But Liz won’t watch the show because she gets too jealous. To me, though, it’s just work,” he explained.

Despite the strain, they reunited, determined to make things work. In 2023, Kelvin reflected on their marriage in an interview on Amelia Singer’s podcast. He described it as something that requires commitment above all: “Work hard, like anything in life. You’ve got to put the hard work in. You take your vows seriously — for better or worse, in sickness and in health. In the testing times, you’ve got to have faith in what you’re doing and why you decided to take those vows, and see it through.”

Liz, meanwhile, believes laughter and teamwork are at the core of their bond. “Don’t hold each other back. Just pursue what you need to do but do it as a team,” she shared, summing up their philosophy after years of navigating fame, jealousy, and the everyday chaos of family life.
