Princess Andre has opened up like never before, admitting she “wishes she had a happier childhood” after living through the turbulent breakdown of her mum Katie Price’s marriage to Kieran Hayler.
Now 18, the daughter of Katie Price and Peter Andre has spoken candidly in her new ITV2 reality series The Princess Diaries about the emotional scars left behind after witnessing her mum’s struggles.

Though Katie’s marriage to Peter ended when Princess was just two, it was the collapse of her third marriage to Kieran Hayler in 2018—following his affair with Katie’s best friend—that left the deepest wounds.
“I did have a counsellor, I still see her now and then,” Princess revealed. “But I don’t really feel I can talk, so I just write everything down in my notes. I do wish I could’ve had a happier childhood. I had so many things on my plate at a young age.”

She began therapy after a frightening incident during a 2018 family trip to South Africa and says the pressure and adult responsibilities made it hard to truly enjoy being a child.
“I would come home from school and get into bed and cry,” she said, recalling how cruel comments from classmates about her famous mum added to her distress.
Princess shared that she never confided in her dad Peter Andre about the situation, explaining: “I always grew up knowing my mum and dad didn’t get along, so I wouldn’t go to him about it.”

The reality star also detailed how her mother’s mental health crumbled after the split from Kieran. “My mum was heartbroken. She didn’t deal with it well and went through a very dark time. She wasn’t emotionally able to be there for us.”
Despite the trauma, Princess says she sees a positive transformation in her mother now. “Mum is such a different person now—if you compare her to back then, she’s genuinely fixed herself.”
But for Princess, the healing is still ongoing. “I could speak about my childhood and feel fine, but sometimes something sets me off and I realise I’m still not over it. I wouldn’t say I’m fully recovered.”
