The explosive rift between Olympic champion Adam Peaty and his family has taken a dramatic new turn, with furious relatives branding celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay a “mafia chef” who allegedly used “power, fame and money” to shut them out.
Adam, 31, married Gordon and Tana Ramsay’s daughter Holly Ramsay, 26, in a lavish ceremony at Bath Abbey in December. But what should have been a fairytale wedding was overshadowed by a painful absence — Adam’s mother, Caroline, was disinvited, and only his sister Bethany attended from his side of the family.

Now, as tensions simmer, a source close to Caroline claims the Ramsays did not consider the Peatys “good or marketable enough” to be part of their high-profile world.
A relative told the Daily Mail: Gordon is using a dispute to flog a documentary. He’s using his position of power, fame and money to call our family out. There is a clear inequality and abuse of that position. Who does he think he is? The Mafia Chef. There is an imbalance of power. They are using their fame, their platform, their money to hurt us.
The bitterness has only deepened following promotion of the Netflix series Being Gordon Ramsay, which features both families around the time of Adam and Holly’s engagement. Caroline is said to be saddened by recent comments Tana gave to Grazia magazine while promoting the show.

In the interview, Tana recalled meeting Caroline and praising Adam, saying: My God, you’ve got the most amazing son. I couldn’t think of anyone more perfect for Holly. She’s incredibly emotional, incredibly vulnerable in areas. She’s funny, brilliant and witty but she also needs keeping in line. Adam manages to do all those things. He’s been through a lot. She’s been through a lot. I remember saying to his mum that, in my mind, he’s perfect for our daughter.
While Tana insisted she was “incredibly happy” to meet Caroline, the Peaty camp viewed some of her remarks differently. One insider questioned: How could Holly’s own mum describe her like that — ‘she needs keeping in line’ like some disobedient dog?
According to the family source, there has been no direct or indirect contact between the Ramsays and the Peatys since the engagement party. They claim texts sent by Caroline went unanswered, and that despite Gordon’s public insistence that his family “treated them like royalty,” the reality felt very different.

Gordon, for his part, has denied wrongdoing. In interviews promoting the documentary, he stated that his family had done nothing inappropriate and that the fallout was “self-inflicted.” He even expressed hope for reconciliation, saying: I would like to go up to Nottingham with Tana and draw a line in the sand.
But the Peaty insider responded sharply: How can a conversation ever draw a line when Caroline was forced to miss the wedding of her own son? Just because he thought Adam’s working-class family would lower the tone. But our family has carried on. We are still living, laughing and loving without you. We know the true meaning and value of family.
Caroline herself appeared to hint at disappointment on social media, questioning why her “100% full of love and positivity” engagement speech did not make it into the final cut of the Netflix show.
As accusations fly and wounds remain raw, what was once a union of two families now looks more like a battle of pride, power and heartbreak — played out under the glare of global fame.
