Gordon Ramsay undergoes cancer surgery, face covered in stitches, as emotional fans send heartfelt wishes for his recovery

Gordon Ramsay has shared that he recently underwent surgery to remove Basal Cell Carcinoma, a form of non-melanoma skin cancer, after a shock diagnosis left him needing urgent treatment.

The celebrity chef, 58, posted pictures of his stitched-up face on Instagram, telling fans he was “grateful” for the swift medical intervention that removed the cancer. He also took the opportunity to warn followers about the importance of wearing sunscreen.

Ramsay wrote: “Grateful and so appreciative for the incredible team at The Skin Associates and their fast reactive work on removing this Basal Cell Carcinoma. Thank you! Please don’t forget your sunscreen this weekend ❤️ I promise you it’s not a face lift! I’d need a refund…”

Basal Cell Carcinoma is the most common type of skin cancer, usually developing in sun-exposed areas like the face, neck, and ears. While it rarely spreads, doctors stress the need for early detection and removal.

The chef’s celebrity friends and fans rushed to send messages of support, praising him for speaking out. Cancer Research UK commented: “Glad to hear you’re doing well, Gordon, and thanks for raising awareness of how important it is to stay safe in the sun. Seek shade, cover up, and apply sunscreen regularly and generously.”

His post comes amid heated debate around sunscreen after influencers like Sam Faiers admitted they don’t use SPF on their children, sparking outrage from doctors and fellow celebrities such as Danielle Lloyd, who is herself battling melanoma. Lloyd slammed the claims that sunscreen is “toxic” as “dangerous and false,” warning that misinformation could cost lives.

This latest health scare comes just over a year after Ramsay survived a terrifying cycling accident that left him fearing for his life.
