Good news: At 61, Mock the Week star Milton Jones declares he is cancer-free and ready to return to the stage

Comedian Milton Jones has shared the uplifting news that he is now cancer-free after undergoing treatment for prostate cancer earlier this year. The 61-year-old, best known for his deadpan one-liners on BBC Two’s now-cancelled panel show Mock the Week, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the medical team who supported him through surgery and recovery.

“A few months ago, I had to stop my tour Ha!Milton because I needed treatment for prostate cancer. I’m glad to say I’ve had that treatment and am now cancer-free,” he revealed, adding with his trademark humour, “There were a few dark moments when I wondered if anyone would ever see me again – but then I realised I was leaning against the light switch.”

Milton, whose career spans Live At The Apollo, Lee Mack’s All Star Cast and Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, thanked his family, friends, tour crew, and fans who held onto their tickets during the uncertain months. “I couldn’t do the doctors’ and nurses’ job – I tried, but apparently you have to be qualified,” he joked.

The comedian has now announced an extended run of 20 shows from September to November, visiting cities including Exeter, Guildford, St Albans, Newbury, Crewe, Wrexham, and Bury St Edmunds. His pun-filled Ha!Milton tour is due to wrap up in November, marking a triumphant return to the stage after a health battle that could have ended his career.

Jones first revealed his diagnosis in April, prompting a wave of support from fellow stars, including Olympic cyclist Sir Chris Hoy, who is living with incurable stage four prostate cancer. Now, Milton says he’s “in a completely different place” – and soon, he’ll be in “lots of other different places on tour too.”
