Gogglebox viewers were left emotional after Shirley Griffiths announced the “last one” of the current series.
The 71-year-old Channel 4 favourite, who has appeared on the show with her husband Dave since 2015, shared a sunny Instagram snap as she raised a glass to fans.
She wrote: “Happy #gogglebox Friday everyone, last one of the series, hope you have a lovely summer love Dave and Shirley xx #summer.”
The message confirmed the end of series 27, which began in February, and fans were quick to admit their Friday nights would not feel the same without the Welsh couple.
One viewer wrote: “Already? I thought you all finished in June time. Aww I’ll miss you pair.” Another added: “It won’t be the same without seeing you both every Fri!”
Others thanked Shirley and Dave for months of laughter, with one fan saying: “Thanks for hours of brilliant entertainment, enjoy your summer and look forward to seeing you soon.”
Another emotional message read: “You will be missed but look forward to the laughter again… thank you, have a wonderful summer!”
Shirley and Dave have become two of Gogglebox’s most loved regulars over the past 11 years, known for their dry humour, warm chemistry and honest reactions from their sofa.
The announcement comes just months after Shirley celebrated her 71st birthday in March, when she was flooded with messages from fans and fellow Gogglebox stars Jenny and Lee, who told her: “Have a fabulous day Shirley, much love.”
