After more than a decade in near silence, Grammy-winning artist Duffy is reportedly working on new music — marking a powerful and emotional return following her traumatic disappearance from the spotlight.

The Welsh singer, now 40, withdrew from public life after she was drugged, kidnapped, taken abroad and raped — a horrifying experience she first opened up about in 2020. She later revealed she was held captive in her UK home after the assault, and spent years in recovery.
Known for her 2008 smash hit Mercy, Duffy recently surprised fans with a low-key appearance on TikTok, lip-syncing to the iconic track while showing off her signature platinum hair. The video, shared by Emotion HQ, hinted at a UK garage remix of the song, sparking speculation that she’s making her long-awaited return.

Reports suggest Duffy is back in the studio with Bernard Butler, the former Suede guitarist who co-produced her debut album. A source told The Sun: “She’s ready. After years of healing, the time feels right. And she trusts Bernard — he’s one of the few people she feels truly comfortable with in the industry.”

The TikTok clip also teased the potential remix with hashtags like #newmusic and #ukgarage, sending fans into a frenzy. “Where have you been?! We missed you,” one commenter wrote. Another simply said, “OMG it’s so good that she’s back.”

Though she’s remained largely absent from social media, Duffy posted a rare uplifting message in 2024, writing: “One day, you’re going to realise that happiness was always about listening to your heart and following it wherever it chose to go.”
With her fans still fiercely loyal, Duffy’s return feels not only like a comeback — but a quiet triumph of survival.
