Chris Stark has spoken from the heart about his battle with testicular cancer and the overwhelming response he received after bravely going public with his diagnosis. The Capital FM Breakfast host, 38, first revealed his health news in March after undergoing surgery and chemotherapy — a decision he said was made to encourage others to check themselves and not delay seeing a doctor.

Now reflecting on that moment, Chris admitted he was “amazed” by the messages of support. “This had been going on in my personal life for a few months. I didn’t want to burden anyone. That’s kind of always been my approach,” he told The Mirror. But after his treatment, Chris opened up — and was stunned by the outpouring of love.
“I wasn’t expecting such a response,” he shared. “But what’s been amazing is hearing from guys across the country who said they finally went to the doctor or checked themselves because of my story. That’s made me incredibly proud.”
Chris revealed that it wasn’t about sympathy. “I didn’t share this to get validation,” he said. “But I’ve realised how powerful honest storytelling can be — especially through radio. It reminded me why I love doing this job.”

The radio star has teamed up with Dreams for their Bed Chemistry campaign, exploring sleep, health, and early starts. Waking up at 4am for his show, Chris joked about not being sleep-compatible with his wife, laughing: “It’s mostly my fault.”
Despite the daily shock of early alarms and struggling to maintain a routine, Chris says he’s trying to find balance. “It’s important to sound awake — but it’s also important to live,” he said. “I don’t want to miss out on life just to nap all afternoon.”
Chris, who previously co-hosted on BBC Radio 1 with Scott Mills, said his cancer journey and new role have helped him rediscover purpose. “I’ve fallen in love with Capital Breakfast,” he said. “This job, and the honesty it allows, have shown me just how powerful radio can be.”
