Charlie Lawson Hospitalised After Two Scary Falls – Former Corrie Star Speaks from Bed

Coronation Street legend Charlie Lawson has revealed he was rushed to A&E after suffering two unexpected falls. The 64-year-old actor, best known for playing Jim McDonald on the ITV soap, shared a video update from his hospital bed, explaining that his physiotherapist sent him to hospital immediately following a troubling session.

“I’ve had an MRI and I’m now waiting on more tests,” he told fans. “They’ve put a wristband on me and everything. It’s not going awfully well at the moment – I’ve fallen twice, so clearly something’s going wrong.”

Charlie, who recently admitted 2024 was his worst year professionally in four decades, also spoke honestly about financial hardship, revealing he’s had to cut back on heating and luxuries due to lack of acting work.

“I’m sitting in my living room in my shooting gear just to stay warm,” he said, noting that he and wife Debbie are “getting by” but have made sacrifices, including skipping trips abroad and fancy meals.

Despite health and career setbacks, the actor remains candid and resilient. He also criticised modern soaps like Coronation Street, calling them “issue-driven” rather than “character-driven” and predicting they won’t survive the next decade.
