Brooklyn Beckham has been hit by a tidal wave of online backlash after launching a blistering public attack on his famous family, with furious followers accusing him of being “diabolically out of touch” and living off privilege while playing the victim.
The 26-year-old, eldest son of David Beckham and Victoria Beckham, broke his silence on Monday night by posting a six-page Instagram statement that laid bare years of resentment, control and family conflict. Brooklyn insisted he has no desire to reconcile and said he is finally standing up for himself “for the first time in my life.”

He claimed he had been controlled by parents who, in his words, value public promotion above all else, and said marrying his wife Nicola Peltz, 31, had brought him peace and relief after years of crippling anxiety. Brooklyn accused his parents of repeatedly trying to sabotage their relationship, alleging that Victoria cancelled making Nicola’s wedding dress at the eleventh hour and later “hijacked” the couple’s first dance.
But while Brooklyn’s statement was packed with explosive accusations, the public reaction was swift and brutal. Social media users branded him a “spoilt brat” who has “never worked a hard day in his life” and owes everything to the Beckham name. One furious post mocked calls to “free Brooklyn Beckham from his terrible life of servitude,” while another raged that without his surname he would be irrelevant. Others accused him of weaponising the fame his parents gave him while airing private family disputes in public.
Some critics went even further, saying his complaints showed staggering detachment from real-world problems, with one post sneering that marrying a billionaire’s daughter and falling out over a multimillion-pound wedding dress represented “diabolical levels of being out of touch.”

In his statement, Brooklyn also turned his fire on his father, claiming that while he was in the UK for David’s 50th birthday celebrations, repeated attempts to see him beforehand were ignored. He alleged that when a meeting was finally agreed, it came with the condition that Nicola was not invited.
Brooklyn insisted he had stayed silent for years and tried to keep matters private, but felt forced to speak after what he described as relentless leaks to the press. He accused his parents of controlling the family narrative, curating performative social media moments and inauthentic relationships to protect “Brand Beckham.” He also alleged attempts to pressure and even bribe him into signing away rights to his name before his wedding, claiming the fallout changed how he was treated forever.
Despite the emotional intensity of his claims, the backlash has only grown louder, with many questioning whether Brooklyn could ever succeed without the Beckham surname and accusing him of confusing privilege with persecution.
