Bedridden. Three weeks of total disappearance. Exhausted, on a drip, still no improvement. Gemma Collins reveals she is seriously ill

Gemma Collins has broken her social media silence to share a worrying health update — the reality TV star has been battling pneumonia for the past three weeks.

The 44-year-old former TOWIE icon took to Instagram to explain her absence, writing: “Hey guys, sorry I’ve been quiet — I have pneumonia. I’m not as fast or on it as I usually am on the daily. I’m still honouring my work commitments which is taking every bit of energy I have, but will be back entertaining you all soon.”

The update came with photos of Gemma being treated at home, including one of her lying in bed and another showing her receiving fluids via a drip, confirming she’s under medical care while recovering at home.

Despite her condition, Gemma’s sense of humour and resilience remain intact. Support poured in from fans and celebrity friends alike. Jedward commented: “You give us so much energy and good vibes! Get your rest!”

This health scare comes months after Gemma began using Mounjaro, a diabetes drug that’s also been linked to dramatic weight loss. She previously praised the treatment for transforming her life and reducing what she calls “food noise” — the constant mental chatter around food that once dominated her daily routine.

“I’ve lost so much weight, you wouldn’t believe it,” she said. “There’s no more food noise, I feel free for the first time in my life.” She joked that she now finds her wardrobe too big, explaining: “I put on pyjamas and they hang off me — I can’t believe they used to fit.”

Pneumonia, an inflammatory lung infection, can become dangerous if left untreated, particularly for people with underlying conditions. Fortunately, Gemma appears to be under close supervision, focused on getting back to full strength.

Her candid update highlights not only her physical recovery but also the emotional weight of slowing down — something not easy for a woman used to living life in the spotlight.
