Comedian Aisling Bea has quietly entered a new chapter of her life — motherhood. The This Way Up star, 41, welcomed her first child last year with Australian musician Jack Freeman, after managing to keep much of her pregnancy under wraps.

Best known for her razor-sharp wit, Aisling appeared on Who Do You Think You Are? while heavily pregnant, joking to fans that she was “borderline uninsurable at 37 weeks.” The pregnancy remained largely private until June 2024, when she debuted her bump at a charity event in Kansas City.
In a candid appearance on Lorraine, Aisling finally confirmed she had given birth to a baby girl. “She’s the best that there’s ever been,” she gushed, while explaining why she chose to keep things private. “When so much of your life is public, it’s nice to hold something back — something just for yourself.”

But while the news brought joy, Aisling didn’t sugarcoat the road there. Reflecting on her pregnancy on Instagram, she gave it a “one-star review,” calling it expensive, uncomfortable, and full of bizarre and painful symptoms.
“UTIs, bleeding, depression, cramps, insomnia, nosebleeds, sinus blockage, vomiting… being kicked in the nuts repeatedly,” she wrote humorously, likening the experience to a surreal Glasgow Wonka exhibit. “Everyone said it would be worth it in the end — but they kept suggesting a nice bath like it was a cure-all.”

Still, there were silver linings: “free extra chips,” helpful people offering to carry her bags, and a “flirty wink from the kebab shop man.”
As of now, Aisling and Jack have yet to share their daughter’s name — keeping one last detail just for themselves.
