Kelly Osbourne has bravely opened up about her terrifying decade-long battle with Lyme disease, which she says left her “like a vegetable” and nearly claimed her life.
The 40-year-old daughter of rock legend Ozzy Osbourne revealed in her memoir that her symptoms began after she was bitten by a tick back in 2004 — but it took 10 years before she received a proper diagnosis.

Kelly was finally diagnosed with stage III neurological Lyme disease in 2014 after visiting alternative health expert Philip Battiade. Her condition had already progressed to the point where she suffered from debilitating pain, cognitive issues, and severe exhaustion.
At one point, she admitted, “I told my family, ‘I can’t live like this anymore. I’m a vegetable.’” Doctors had prescribed her a string of medications — from Ambien for sleep to Trazodone for nausea — which in turn caused new problems like acid reflux and urinary tract infections. “My prescriptions just kept piling up,” she said.

One of the most frightening moments came in 2013 when Kelly suffered a seizure and was initially misdiagnosed with epilepsy. But the root cause remained undetected until she sought alternative care.
In her 2017 book There Is No F—ing Secret, she expressed her frustration over being misunderstood: “What annoys me is that this is a real, real disease. It almost killed me. I will do anything to raise awareness for it because most of the time, it goes misdiagnosed.”

Lyme disease, caused by tick bites, is notoriously hard to diagnose as it mimics many other conditions. Stage III often leads to arthritis in major joints like the knees, bringing swelling, stiffness, and persistent pain.
Her story comes just after Justin Timberlake also revealed he’s been battling Lyme disease, calling it “relentlessly debilitating.” Kelly echoed this, stressing that the condition is not only physically devastating but mentally draining too.
