Ant McPartlin, beloved host of “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!” and one half of the iconic duo Ant & Dec, has spoken candidly about being diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)—an experience he describes as “life-changing.”
The TV star revealed that he had struggled with symptoms for years before finally being diagnosed in 2018, following a difficult period marked by a car crash and a drink-driving incident. “I went and got thoroughly tested and diagnosed,” McPartlin said. “I discovered things about myself that I hadn’t understood before.”
He also explored the connection between ADHD and addiction during his recovery, saying, “There are a lot of links between ADHD and alcohol dependency. That’s something I learned a lot about while I was in treatment.”

While ADHD has posed challenges in his personal life, McPartlin acknowledged that it has also fueled his creative energy in television. He described his thought process as “like popcorn,” rapidly jumping from one idea to the next—a trait that can be both a gift and a struggle.
“I’ve realized that in work it’s a benefit—it helps me think fast and be creative. But in my personal life, it’s been a bit of a chaos creator,” he admitted.
By sharing his story, McPartlin hopes to raise awareness and support others who might be going through similar challenges. “There are so many people out there who are dealing with the same thing. I really feel for them,” he said.
