Serious Incident: Ant McPartlin Receives Special Medical Care After ‘Irresponsible’ On-Set Stunt

Ant McPartlin Injured During Dangerous Coconut Stunt on Britain’s Got Talent

Britain’s Got Talent host Ant McPartlin required medical attention after a bizarre on-set mishap left him with a forehead injury during the show’s auditions.

The accident happened when Ant attempted to participate in a performance act that involved smashing coconuts. At first, he tried to break one with his fist, joking afterward: “Do not punch coconuts, kids. It really hurts—I think I nearly broke my knuckle.” Not stopping there, Ant then tried to use his head to crack the coconut, saying: “Why did you say forehead? Because I was bound to try.”

His co-host, Declan Donnelly, quickly pointed out that Ant was bleeding. Upon noticing the cut, Ant jokingly scolded someone off-camera: “How irresponsible are you?”

First aiders immediately stepped in, and the attending medic informed Ant that he would need to change the dressing on his forehead daily for the next three weeks. Despite the injury, Ant maintained his sense of humor: “This is very extreme for just a little tap on the forehead.” He later returned to the stage undeterred—and even attempted to take on the coconuts again, according to The Express.

The episode wasn’t the only close call during filming. Judge Simon Cowell also revealed that he narrowly escaped serious harm during a separate audition involving a contestant smashing watermelons.

The 65-year-old recounted: “There was a moment where I genuinely thought, ‘They actually want to kill me.’ The contestant was shaking, nervous, and slipped while smashing watermelons dangerously close to me.”

Thankfully, the production’s safety team intervened just in time. “Normally the health and safety guys are kind of annoying,” Simon admitted. “But this time, they saved my life.”

Speaking about the overall mood on set, Ant added that the cast was “scared for Simon Cowell’s life” and warned that this year’s season is packed with “a lot of danger.”
