Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, reportedly acted so harshly toward a Windsor gardener that Queen Elizabeth II personally stepped in to address the issue, according to royal historian Hugo Vickers.

The incident allegedly took place while Meghan and Prince Harry were living at Frogmore Cottage. Meghan is said to have reprimanded a junior gardener so severely that the head gardener reported it directly to the Queen.
According to Vickers, the Queen did not tolerate disrespect towards staff and personally drove to confront Meghan about her behavior.
An ex-courtier also described Meghan’s time at the palace as being filled with intense and sometimes erratic moments, calling some of them “psycho.”

This is one of several allegations surrounding Meghan’s treatment of royal staff. A tell-all book by Tom Quinn, Yes, Ma’am: The Secret Life Of Royal Servants, also includes claims that Meghan aspired to be the most popular royal and believed she could finish what Princess Diana started. Some palace staff described her as having a “messianic complex.”
Sources also noted that Meghan’s confident attitude and desire to lead meetings — rather than observe and learn about royal protocol — made her stand out. One staffer remarked, “She thought she knew better than an institution that has existed for over a thousand years.”
The report paints a picture of cultural clashes and tensions within the Royal Family during Meghan’s time as a working royal.
