BBC Radio 2 Legend Bob Harris Gives Fans A Brave New Update After Revealing Cancer Has Spread

BBC Radio 2 legend Bob Harris has shared a moving new update with fans as he continues his recovery after revealing his cancer has spread.

The beloved broadcaster, 80, posted a cheerful new photo from home, smiling broadly and giving a thumbs-up while wearing a gown. Despite recent health setbacks, Bob appeared in good spirits as he reached out to supporters with a warm message.

He wrote: “Hiya Folks! I hope you’re all ok. Sending you all my love.”

Fans quickly flooded the comments with emotional support. One wrote: “Sending all the love your way,” while another added: “Fab photo. Looking great. Keep up the good work.”

Bob was first diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2007 and had managed the disease with treatment for years. However, last month he revealed the heartbreaking news that the cancer had spread from his prostate to his upper spine.

At the time, Bob told fans: “I’m sorry it’s been so long since I last posted but the past few weeks have proved to be an extremely testing time.”

He explained that doctors had been trying to discover the cause of severe back pain, before scans brought frightening news. “Several scans later, we discovered that my prostate cancer has got into my upper spine… really frightening news,” he wrote.

Bob said he immediately began radiotherapy and spent two weeks in hospital before returning home. He added: “Thankfully I’m back at home now, on the pathway to recovery and feeling stronger every day.”

The broadcasting favourite has now started rehab and is focusing on building his strength again. In his previous update, he also shared that he had managed to get outside in the sunshine with his son, who took a photo of him walking with a stick.

Bob also thanked his wife Zoe and everyone who had reached out, signing off with: “See you soon folks! xxx.”

The Radio 2 star has faced major health scares before. In 2019, he was forced off air after suffering a tear to his aorta, which he later described as “extremely serious.”

Bob Harris remains one of Britain’s most treasured radio voices, best known for hosting The Country Show on BBC Radio 2 and for fronting BBC Two’s iconic music programme The Old Grey Whistle Test in the 1970s.
