Suzanne Shaw and Darren Day have entered a brand new chapter — becoming grandparents — as their son Corey welcomed his first child into the world.
The former Hear’Say star, 44, took to Instagram to share the emotional news that Corey, 21, and his girlfriend Erin had welcomed a baby boy named Colton. Alongside a series of tender photos, Suzanne couldn’t hide her pride and emotion as she reflected on the moment her “baby boy” became a father.

She wrote: Something beautiful, something true, my baby boy Corey became a father to a precious son, wrapped softly in blue. She went on to gush: Colton – Nanny loves you to infinity and back, you are perfect. I might not have reading glasses quite yet like your grandad, but I can’t wait to teach you handstands and cartwheels.
In a surprising and heartwarming twist, Suzanne reunited publicly with her ex Darren Day, 57, as they posed together smiling beside their newborn grandson — a far cry from their once explosive past.

Darren even joked about their age difference, writing: Grandad loves you so much… and is actually old enough to be a grandparent, unlike Nanny! @suzi_shaw.
Their united front marks a remarkable turnaround for a couple whose relationship once made headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Back in 2003, Suzanne and Darren began an affair while both were engaged to other partners, after meeting during a touring production of Summer Holiday. Their whirlwind romance led to an engagement and the birth of Corey — but things quickly unravelled.

In 2005, just weeks after Corey was born, Darren walked out on Suzanne on Mother’s Day while she was battling postnatal depression. At the time, he was reported to have said: I don’t do family — a phrase that would haunt his reputation for years.
Reflecting on the painful split in a later interview, Suzanne revealed that Darren pretty much went out to get a curry and didn’t come back, admitting that her struggle with postnatal depression came as no surprise given the circumstances.

Despite the heartbreak, the pair have spent years rebuilding a civil relationship as co-parents — a journey that has now led them to stand side by side again for one of life’s most joyful milestones.
The announcement was met with an outpouring of love from friends and fans alike. Fellow Hear’Say star Kym Marsh wrote: This is wonderful!!! Welcome to the grandparent club!!! You’re gonna love it, while Myleene Klass added: Huge congrats x.
The joyful family moment comes shortly after Suzanne opened up about another difficult chapter in her life — her recent split from fiancé Sam Greenfield.

In an emotional video shared earlier this year, she admitted: It’s been tough, it’s been really tough… but thank god I have got the tools to navigate this. She also reflected on her six-year journey of sobriety and self-growth, saying she is now entering an era of having the greatest love affair with myself.
From betrayal and breakdown to healing and new beginnings, Suzanne’s story has come full circle — and now, with baby Colton at the centre, a new generation is bringing unexpected unity to a once fractured family.
