Few people knew! Hugo Taylor once threatened to divorce Millie Mackintosh after she “humiliated him” during a drunken row at a friend’s wedding

Millie Mackintosh has revealed that her marriage to Hugo Taylor was on the brink of collapse years before their recent split, after a drunken argument at a friend’s wedding left her husband threatening divorce.

The former Made In Chelsea star, 36, has spoken candidly about her long-running battle with alcohol, admitting it placed immense strain on her relationship and family life. Millie and Hugo, who have now separated after seven years of marriage, quietly parted ways following what sources described as a “difficult” start to the year marked by serious conversations about their future.

Appearing on This Morning in January 2025 to promote her memoir Bad Drunk, Millie reflected on the moment everything came to a head. She explained that alcohol had made her deeply unhappy and was damaging her closest relationships, particularly her marriage.

During the interview, host Ben Shephard read out a stark warning Hugo had given her after the wedding incident, telling her that if she did not stop drinking, it would end their marriage. Millie admitted she had crossed a line, saying she had taken things too far and had “really humiliated” her husband in public.

She recalled feeling overwhelming shame in the days that followed, explaining that the incident became a turning point. Within days, she decided she had reached her limit and quit drinking, a decision she made more than two years ago and has since credited with changing her life.

Despite becoming sober in 2022 and working through her struggles in therapy, the couple’s relationship continued to face challenges. In recent months, insiders have suggested that tensions were heightened as Millie became fully open about her sexuality — something she has said was emotionally complex and took time to process.

Millie has previously admitted that during the height of her drinking, she would drunkenly kiss women, something she later understood was linked to unresolved feelings and insecurity from her teenage years. Speaking on her friend Saturn Returns Podcast, she explained that alcohol gave her the confidence to act on feelings she did not yet understand, while sober she felt too frightened to express them.

She has since said that opening up about her sexuality was met with support from Hugo, but sources now claim the emotional journey created a widening gap between them. One insider said she had begun to understand who she was beyond her roles as a wife and mother, describing it as both liberating and overwhelming.

Millie and Hugo, who share daughters Sienna, five, and Aurelia, four, are said to remain committed to co-parenting and maintaining a loving family environment. Friends of the former couple insist their children remain their absolute priority as they navigate life apart.

The pair first met as teenagers and reconnected in their early twenties, rising to fame together on reality TV. They married in 2018 after years of on-off romance, but Millie has since acknowledged that unresolved personal struggles, particularly her relationship with alcohol, cast a long shadow over their marriage.
