Martin Freeman made a rare and quietly touching family appearance on Tuesday night as he attended the London premiere of The Seven Dials Mystery alongside his girlfriend Rachel Benaissa and his 19-year-old son Joe Freeman.
The 54-year-old actor, who stars in the new Netflix adaptation of the Agatha Christie classic, looked effortlessly sharp in a navy pinstripe suit as he walked the red carpet. Rachel, 31, matched his polished look in a dark plaid blazer and tailored trousers, holding Martin’s hand as they posed for photographers — a rare public display from the famously private couple.
Rachel styled her brunette hair in an elegant updo, finishing the look with gold hoop earrings and a coordinating necklace. Joe, whom Martin shares with his former partner Amanda Abbington, also cut a stylish figure in a black pinstripe suit paired with a cravat, posing confidently alongside a female friend.
The three-part series, set to land on Netflix on January 15, stars Mia McKenna-Bruce as Lady Eileen ‘Bundle’ Brent, a determined young woman drawn into a chilling murder mystery. The cast also includes Helena Bonham Carter, Corey Mylchreest, Edward Bluemel and Nabhaan Rizwan.
Away from the cameras, Martin has previously offered rare insight into his relationship with Rachel. Speaking on Jessie and Lennie Ware’s Table Manners podcast last year, he revealed that cooking together is one of their favourite shared rituals, joking that Rachel proudly describes herself as a “cheese and wine w****” — a phrase she happily applies to herself.
Earlier this year, Martin also opened up about family life on The Jonathan Ross Show, recalling a slightly awkward but memorable trip to a Sherlock-themed escape room with Rachel and his two children. He admitted it felt “a little bit t***ish” to experience a game based on the BBC series he starred in, but said his kids insisted it would be fun — even if they didn’t escape in time.
Martin shares Joe and 16-year-old daughter Grace with Amanda, and has been in a relationship with Rachel since around 2020, following the end of his 16-year partnership.
