Brooklyn Beckham has reportedly revealed why he took the drastic step of sending a legal letter to his parents, David Beckham and Victoria Beckham, despite their quiet hopes that the long-running family feud might finally begin to thaw.
According to reports, the 26-year-old aspiring chef instructed his famous parents last summer to contact him only through lawyers — a move that stunned those close to the Beckham family. Brooklyn is said to have made it clear he no longer wanted direct contact, nor any public references to him on social media.

Sources now claim the decision was rooted in Brooklyn’s mental health. One insider told the Mirror that online posts from David and Victoria — particularly those tagging or mentioning him — had begun to take a toll, prompting him to draw a firm boundary. The letter, they said, was “to protect himself” after repeated requests for privacy were allegedly ignored.
It’s also understood that Brooklyn wants any potential reconciliation to happen behind closed doors, rather than being played out in the public eye. The source added that tensions escalated because he felt his parents continued to see him as “a child” rather than an adult making his own decisions.

The rift intensified further over the weekend when Brooklyn’s wife, Nicola Peltz, appeared to take a decisive step of her own — wiping all traces of the Beckham family from her Instagram account. The 31-year-old actress deleted several posts, including a once-gushing birthday tribute to Victoria that had previously been used to shut down rumours of bad blood.
In contrast, Brooklyn himself has not followed suit. While he is believed to have blocked his parents and siblings — Romeo, Cruz and Harper — on social media, he has not erased past family content, fuelling speculation that he may still be holding the door open, however slightly.

Nicola, meanwhile, made her priorities clear by sharing a series of affectionate family snaps with her own parents, Nelson and Claudia Peltz, referring to them pointedly as “my crew”. In one caption, she praised her mother as “the most beautiful human inside and out,” reinforcing the sense that she is leaning firmly on her own family amid the turmoil.
The Beckham-Peltz tensions date back to Brooklyn and Nicola’s lavish April 2022 wedding, when rumours first surfaced after Nicola opted not to wear a gown designed by Victoria. While Nicola later insisted there was “no feud” and said Victoria’s atelier simply didn’t have time to make the dress, whispers of hurt feelings and sidelined roles at the wedding continued to swirl.
Behind the scenes, Brooklyn reportedly became increasingly upset by what he saw as “nasty” briefings about Nicola, including claims that he was being “controlled” or treated like a “hostage” by his wife. Although the legal letter carried no formal legal action, it marked the clearest sign yet of how fractured the relationship had become.
Despite the breakdown with his parents, sources insist Brooklyn remains close to both sets of grandparents. Yet friends say the situation with David and Victoria has reached a painful impasse, with Brooklyn privately telling some that his relationship with his parents is “over” — at least for now.
