She lost love, money, and the warmth of her home – all in one year. Now, Patsy Kensit bravely opens up about the silent battle she’s fought for decades: PTSD. A story of heartbreak, strength, and survival

British actress Patsy Kensit has revealed the full emotional toll of a harrowing few years that left her feeling “broken and numb” — and ultimately led to a diagnosis of PTSD.

The 57-year-old star, known for roles in EastEnders, Holby City, and Emmerdale, recently opened up about a devastating series of personal and professional setbacks that brought her to the edge.

Speaking in a heartfelt interview, Patsy traced the roots of her trauma back to childhood. Her mother, Margaret, was diagnosed with breast cancer when Patsy was just four years old. After a two-decade battle, Margaret passed away when Patsy was in her early twenties — a loss that left a deep emotional scar.

But the past three years have brought their own storm. In 2024, just months after announcing a whirlwind engagement to millionaire businessman Patric Cassidy, the relationship abruptly ended. The collapse of her skincare business only added to the strain. And to make things worse, she was forced to cope with her son Lennon leaving home, leaving her with a painful sense of emptiness.

“I was broken and numb,” she admitted. “The broken engagement, the failed business, and the house suddenly quiet — it all hit me at once.”

In February, Patsy confirmed she had been diagnosed with long-term PTSD, acknowledging that she had carried the weight of unresolved trauma for much of her life.

Despite everything, she credited her survival to a close circle of friends. “They rallied around me,” she said. “They saved me. I’m so grateful for their love and support.”

Today, Patsy continues to work and heal — and is appearing on Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh to share more about her journey and resilience.
