months after losing her husband, Derek Draper, the Good Morning Britain presenter is now dealing with a deepening debt crisis.

According to The Mirror, Kate’s company Praespero 100 Ltd has plunged into the red, with official filings revealing the business is now £165,000 in debt as of November 2023. A sharp contrast from the previous year, when the company recorded a modest profit of £36,888.
The total owed to creditors? Over £208,000.
This financial downturn comes after years of mounting costs related to Derek’s care. Derek, who battled the long-term effects of COVID-19 for nearly four years, passed away in January 2024. During his illness, Kate revealed that she was spending £16,000 a month on his treatment — a staggering burden she shouldered largely on her own.

“I am in debt. I can’t earn enough to cover it, and the money I do have just goes to keeping the basics going,” she admitted in a documentary aired before Derek’s passing.
Now, it’s been reported that between personal and business debts, Kate is facing liabilities of up to £2 million, with £800,000 linked to Derek’s health care alone.
Even more devastating: Kate may be forced to sell her home to stay afloat. “It’s so sad for Kate,” a source said. “She’s spent everything trying to save Derek — now the house may be all she has left.”
Kate has been candid about the emotional and financial toll of navigating the UK’s care system. “You feel like you’re on trial,” she previously told The Sunday Times. “Answering questions about things that could mean life or death for someone you love.”
