After 16 years of marriage and surviving the so-called Strictly curse, Faye Tozer quietly moved out of the family home — just weeks before Christmas. Her husband’s cryptic heartbreak post now makes a lot more sense…

her husband Michael Smith after 16 years of marriage.

Faye, 49, who rose to fame with the band Steps, tied the knot with Michael in 2009. The couple share a 15-year-old son, Benjamin. According to reports, Faye has now moved out of the family home in South Tyneside — and it all happened just weeks before Christmas.

The split came as a surprise to those close to the couple. A source revealed: “It is really sad. Everyone thought they were one of the solid ones. No one saw it coming.”

Speculation about trouble in the marriage began last November, when Michael posted a cryptic message online: “I met you when I was not looking for you and lost when I loved you the most.” He also shared a symbolic image of Banksy’s “broken heart” mural, captioned with “closed for repair.”

When asked for comment recently, Michael told MailOnline: “We’re going through some things and trying to work stuff out. That’s all I’ll say.”

Despite previously denying any tension after her 2018 appearance on Strictly — a show often linked with breakups — Faye had insisted her marriage was strong. “We’ve always worked apart. Being on the show didn’t change anything for us — we’re solid,” she said at the time.

Faye was partnered with Giovanni Pernice on the show and reached the final, finishing as runner-up. Now, years later, the relationship she once called “solid” appears to have quietly unravelled.
