Penny Lancaster has revealed that her husband, music legend Rod Stewart, still has the energy of a man half his age. Speaking candidly about their 18-year marriage, the 54-year-old Loose Women star described Rod, 80, as “so youthful he’s like a machine” and said he had promised to give her “another 20 years.”
“When Rod turned 80, he told me, ‘I’m going to give you another 20 years.’ He’s the one saying, ‘Let’s go out tomorrow night’ or ‘Should we go to Paris this weekend?’ I’m like, ‘But we just went out last night!’ He never stops,” Penny admitted.

The couple first met when Penny was 27 and Rod was 53, already twice married with six children from previous relationships. Lancaster confessed she had to convince Rod’s children she wasn’t after his fortune. “They were like, ‘What’s her angle?’ And I was just, ‘I like the guy!’ Whatever choices Rod had made in the past, I made sure his kids never saw me as a threat.”

Rod’s family life has been colourful. He put his first daughter Sarah, now 61, up for adoption at 17, later reconnecting with her. He shares Kimberly, 47, and Sean, 45, with ex-wife Alana Stewart; Ruby, 38, with ex Kelly Emberg; and Renee, 33, and Liam, 30, with ex-wife Rachel Hunter. With Penny, he has two more sons – Alastair, 19, and Aiden, 14.

Rod has been equally frank about his past, recently telling The Times that his split from Rachel Hunter “tore him to shreds.” He even joked that there were six months between Rachel and Penny because his bassist refused to give him Penny’s number. “He said, ‘All you’ll do is mess around,’ and he was right – I had a splendid time,” Rod quipped.

Now, the Maggie May rocker says he couldn’t be happier. “Penny has everything I want,” he shared, adding that she was different from anyone he had met before. Penny herself admitted she “wasn’t a fan” when they first met, but Rod “sucked her in” with his unstoppable energy and charm.
