Jessie J is preparing to step back into the spotlight after months of breast cancer treatment. The 36-year-old star, who was diagnosed earlier this year after discovering a 4–5cm lump, underwent a mastectomy instead of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
She admitted that the diagnosis had left her devastated, revealing that cancer had “robbed her of memories” with her young son. The biopsy, which came just a day after her birthday, confirmed she had high-grade cancer cells.

In recent weeks, Jessie faced another health scare when she was rushed to hospital with an infection and fluid on her lungs. Despite the setback, she is determined to return to the career she loves, with her first live performance set for BBC Radio 2 in the Park this weekend.
Radio host Scott Mills, a close friend of the singer, shared that Jessie is staying positive. “She’s all right and she is feeling really positive. She just needs to focus on her health and then feel ready for the tour. It’s a homecoming. I’m definitely not missing that,” he told The Sun.

Jessie had originally planned to tour in October, but has now pushed the dates back to April 2026 as she requires a second surgery before the end of the year. She told fans: “Unfortunately, I have to have a second surgery – nothing too serious, but it has to be done. I feel frustrated and sad, but I need to be better, I need to be healed.”
Speaking on Jamie Laing’s podcast, Jessie became emotional as she admitted, “Yesterday I sobbed. I feel like I can’t be a mum to my son, and I miss him. I feel like cancer has robbed me of memories with my boy. There were moments I thought, ‘this is going to go left and I’m going to die.’”
Even in her darkest moments, Jessie drew strength from music. She recalled her emotional set at Capital FM’s Summertime Ball just before surgery. “That euphoria and energy… when I was put to sleep, I replayed that moment in my head. I wish everyone who has ever been diagnosed with anything scary could experience what I did. The whole crowd erupted… it was like a giant hug.”
