Ben Shephard has left fans and co-stars in awe after tackling what he called the “most ridiculous” challenge of his life — the grueling World’s Toughest Mudder.
The This Morning and Good Morning Britain presenter, 50, signed up for the intense 24-hour obstacle race with his sons Sam and Jack, and his godson Ben. Unlike the regular Tough Mudder, which spans around 10-12 miles, this extreme version features relentless 5-mile loops filled with brutal climbs, unforgiving terrain, and unexpected challenges — all repeated non-stop for an entire day.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Ben shared photos and videos of the experience, admitting:
“It was 24 hours of mud, sweat, blisters, exhaustion and zero sleep — but more than anything, it was about connection.”

He added that doing it with his sons was both “ridiculous” and “rewarding”, saying they lifted each other, literally at times, and found strength in the crowd and the Tough Mudder community. “Fit at 50 isn’t about being the fastest or strongest — it’s about showing up, doing things that scare you, and doing it with the people you love.”

The presenter received floods of praise from colleagues and fans alike. Susanna Reid called it “utterly brilliant”, while Dr Zoe Williams described it as “a wonderful thing to do as a family”. Matt Baker added, “Total respect, my friend. Well muddy done.”
Ben’s story has inspired followers across generations, with one fan saying: “You’re inspiring fathers and children alike. The biggest respect to you.”
